Enough pulp to warp a generation!

Enough pulp to warp a generation!

First up: Atomic Robo Presents Real Science Adventures #1 really for real comes out March 28th. That’s this Wednesday! Be sure to pick it up locally or online (I swear the real cover is better than that).

Each issue should be $2.50 in print. Or maybe $2.75? We were talking about $2.50 internally, but I’ve seen it listed for $2.75 too. I don’t know which is which, I just write these stupid things! Either way though, that’s at least 30% cheaper than most corporate comics. As well, RSA #1 will be available on all iOS and Android devices for $1.99.

Somewhat relatedly: did you know Atomic Robo and the Flying She-Devils of the Pacific #1 is available for pre-order? Well, it is! It comes out in June, but pre-ordering now is the best way to guarantee you’ll get it at your shop. If you don’t have one, you can reserve a copy online!

Second: I think it’s basically impossible for the Robo Kickstarter to hit its next stretch goal, but that’s okay! It’s hard to put a negative spin on the phrase, “Gosh, you guys only pushed us to over 500% of our goal.” We are beyond delighted and honored by the support you’ve shown for this project.

But! I will reiterate this: you should now consider the Kickstarter to be your big chance to grab some one-of-a-kind Atomic Robo gifts. The rewards The Fictory is offering are h-o-t hawt. Most recently they added a new $55 package including a DVD, art book, and T-shirt. There’s also the all new a la carte option.

Lastly: I’m writing a pulp novel! Well, maybe. The fine folks at Evil Hat are experimenting with a fiction line for their pulp RPG setting Spirit of the Century. As of this writing they’ve already hit a few stretch goals and, long story short, the $10 level gets you Chuck Wendig’s Dinocalypse trilogy in PDF/ebook. Oh, and there are print edition options at higher tiers, of course.

If we can get this thing ~$200 more, that’ll take it to the $15,000 level, and then I get to write a Benjamin Hu novel! If you’re not familiar with Benjamin, he’s sort of Sherlock Holmes crossed with Indiana Jones crossed with an international conspiracy, ancient artifacts, cults, word domination, y’know how it goes.

At $20,000 C.E. Murphy gets to write an Amelia Stone novel.

The extra cool thing? That $10 for the three Dinocalypse books? It also gets you every book funded by the project. You could be getting four or five books for the price of, well, one. Check out the other rewards while you’re at it!

Well, I know where some of my money is going, come payday – I love Atomic Robo and I’m always glad to see more Robo books hit the shelves.  *grins* And I can proudly report my store has already pre-ordered Robo.

Hell, there are enough Robo fans on staff here at Dragon’s Lair, we talked Scott Chitwood into giving away a couple of trades to Kevin Eastman at Staple.I love the idea of fiction for Spirit of the Century; I’ve always been a fan of the pulps and of pulp heroes and I love the FATE system.  A story-oriented rules-light RPG?  Perfect.I hope you get the chance to write that book.

Hey, cool. I looooove Dragon’s Lair.

When I went in to pre-order Real Science Adventures, the guys there basically said “Oh, that’s Robo, right? Yeah, we’re just ordering everything with “Atomic” and “Robo” in the title for you. No need to worry.”

So, basically, I’m set for life. Or at least until you guys quit working on Robo.
… just don’t start making even more spin-offs and stuff. That might get expensive for me.

    Sounds like a good shop!

It’s official. I’m on board to write Benjamin Hu: Mystic Detective!

Cool beans. That’s four novels for $10. I need to up my pledge.

I needed a good dose of Doctor Dinosaur today. Thanks guys, much appreciated. His adventure montage was awesome.

My shop does the same thing for me.

They used to order me all the Red 5 stuff but Neozoic & We Kill Monsters are the only two I liked that weren’t Robo (Cubicles looks good, though).

Will real science adventures be sold collected as a trade eventually?

  • http://www.nuklearpower.com Brian!

Yup! My guess would be August or more likely September 2012.

  • Tim

It will be the DEATH OF ATOMIC ROBO!

I wished Tom Hodges would have done more with Midknight. Being originally from South Jersey I liked the whole idea of superheroes from Philly.

This is 100% unofficial, but I have seen hints here and there that he wants to get back on that horse in 2012.

This is the first comic I’ve actually bought online, I may keep it up though I’ll still but the collection in paper back.

A lot of folks roll that way. I’m trying to put off getting an iPad because I know it will kill my comics budget: tons of issues, tons of trades afterward, nooooooooooo.

Yeah, I have a ridiculously good job that I could go and buy all of the things but that isn’t responsible when it comes to saving and doing fun things on vacation. Tech is high on the wish list but pretty low on actually need list…. though Bluray plays are pretty cheap and I really want to watch some show in “holy smokes that looks pretty” definition. Namely BSG and GoT.
