Looks like Atomic Robo and the Ghost of Station X got an Eisner nomination!
We don’t stand a chance to win, but the nomination is quite nice all on its own. Station X was a big gamble for us. Tons of action, little banter, and an antagonist who didn’t exist. We were playing a long con with that storyline. So long that you guys still haven’t seen where it’ll lead.
If you want to see what all the fuss is about, head down to your local shop and ask them to pre-order the trade paperback collection (order # JAN121241). Or grab it online. You can get the issues for your computer and iOS/Android devices, but the collection won’t be available until after the print one hits shelves. That should be early May.
The Eisners are announced at San Diego Comicon in June. If you’re in the comics industry as a creator, retailer, or whatever, you can vote.
In the meantime we’ll just over here quietly working on Atomic Robo and the Flying She-Devils of the Pacific. You can pre-order that bad boy now, by the way. For under $3! I would.
I’d be disappointed if Robo’s “non-existent” antagonist wasn’t back to go all Wintermute (or something) on him again in the future.
Have you ever decided just how far out Robo’s lifespan goes (that you’ll do stories about)?

Sort of yes and sort of no. On the one hand, some of the upcoming story lines are planned for Robo’s future which will be his/our preset by the time they come out.
On the other hand, what we have planned doesn’t constitute an ending.
Every year, I nominate the latest “Atomic Robo” trade paperback for a Hugo. My cunning plan hasn’t born fruit yet, but it will. Oner day. One day.

Ghost of Station X is the first “complete” story arc I’ve bought digitally but like all atomic robo before it, I will be putting my cash down to buy the trade so I can continue to share the fun with my friends.
Writer and co-creator of Atomic Robo. I'll talk about writing, comic books, and writing comic books. Most people know me because of my work at NuklearPower.com. My fiction and dumb thoughts are Superexplosive. Sometimes I work for Marvel.
Scott Wegener
Artist and co-creator of Atomic Robo. I spend most of my time begging Brian to stop writing impossible comics. I post Robo concept art, photo reference, and artists who inspire me to be better at this on Tumblr. Sometimes I work for Marvel too.
"The truth may be puzzling. It may take some work to grapple with.
It may be counterintuitive. It may contradict deeply held prejudices.
It may not be consonant with what we desperately want to be true.
But our preferences do not determine what's true."
