In short: more ATOMIC ROBO is on the way, that's a promise!

If we're so busy, then where are the new pages?

We're holding them hostage. But for a good reason! We don't like these hiatuses that crop up between each story any more than you do, and we're taking measures to make them stop going forward. The first step is to establish a bigger buffer than usual. That's what we've been doing for a few months now. With that as our foundation we can build a more consistent update schedule and make it so any delays from one volume to the next is much, much smaller in the future.

But that's not all we've been doing! Things are positively brewing behind the scenes. The first of these developments is scheduled to come at you in the summer. Stay tuned!

Howdy, folks!

Hope you enjoyed ATOMIC ROBO AND THE PERIL OF PROMETHEUS. We'd had "Do a murder mystery" on the big list of ideas for a long time, so it was a real treat for us to figure out, y'know, what the hell that would actually look like within the context of an Atomic Robo sci-fi adventure.

We're going to take a brief hiatus and close out 2025 with a short story about what happened to the Ultimate Villain Team-up after their ignoble one-page defeat. After that we'll take another li'l break and come back with the new full length volume for 2026: ATOMIC ROBO AND THE NEO-GENETIC EVOLUTION.

I don't mean to post spoilers, but eagle-eyed readers will recognize that sci-fi neologism ain't so neo as it already appeared in our previous volume. Gosh, I wonder if there were any glaringly obvious loose threads from the rather shocking and uncharacteristically harrowing events of that story. Unfortunately, there is no way for us to know!

Okay, to be fair, it could be something else. But my unbiased opinion is that it is 100% definitely the hardcover thing! Which is good news because you can reserve your own copy today! And maybe pick up some more hardcovers and other Robo themed goodies while you're at it why not!

Please excuse this minor hiccup! Today's page had a minor production snafu that would have made reading it confusing! We will have that fixed and uploaded as soon as possible. The funny thing is that there is another production snafu for the next few pages, which is that they are not yet fully colored or lettered because they were drawn last. So, while the rest of the issue is 100% complete, there is a batch of pages in the middle that are only partly done.

Don't ask.

Anyway, TL;DR — we'll have things back up and running in a week or so. And I promise the next issue will have a normal production schedule.

If you are in or around the DelMarVa area this weekend, then you need to come on down to AwesomeCon and check out the Atomic Robo booth in the heart of Artists Alley. There's also a really great show all around that booth but, in my completely unbiased opinion, the Atomic Robo booth is the obvious highlight.

We'll be there all three days and, don't tell anyone, but we might have some surprises for folks who drop by. See you there!

You may have noticed that your Friday was not graced with a brand new page of ATOMIC ROBO AND THE PERIL OF PROMETHEUS. And if you didn't, well, good thing Atomic Robo is the detective in this little murder mystery and not you.

But we aren't depriving you out of cruelty, we're taking a little break from updates since we know most of you folks are gonna be mighty distracted by all usual end of year insanity. Look at it this way. We've given you an excellent excuse to re-read the first two issues to familiarize yourself with the mystery when the third issue debuts!

Hey, I finished another TTRPG project. This one is called FUTURESHOCK 2017 and you play chromed out freelancers doing illegal jobs for psychopathic criminals (gangs or corporate) in the neonoir world of Edge City.

The text is written as if it's the updated edition of a game that was originally released in 1987.

Anyway, for you turbo nerds out there, this is an OSR largely inspired by David Black’s The Black Hack (the core systems, Enemies, and spells as Hacks), Matt Click’s The Mecha Hack (Archetypes and Augmentations), Phil Lewis’ The Lavender Hack (Locations, Contacts, and Hustles), Mike Evans’ Barbarians of the Ruined Earth (Vehicles), and Scott Wegener’s Home (Resources, NPCs, and Downtime generally).

You can get a copy over at our itch.io store. This version is pay-what-you-want because A) there's a few things I'd like to add/change, and B) it's text only — no layout or art to make it look good. So, don't fret if you wanna grab it for free! We'll pursue a fancy edition at a later date and you can throw money at that version.

We found Charlie as a stray at our apartment complex back in Orlando. We'll never know exactly what brought him into our lives, but it seems clear that he was abandoned as a kitten when his previous owners moved out. He was filthy, starving, and (as we would find out when we got him to the vet's office) riddled with parasites. Our plan was to get him checked out, fixed, vaccinated, etc., so we could find him a home. But the docs quickly found he had feline panleukopenia. They told us that typically had a 90% mortality rate, but that might be as low as 70% for Charlie because they'd caught it so early.

They kept him for a couple weeks. We visited every few days. The vets told us that a big part of what makes panleukopenia so lethal is that, even with ample treatment, the disease makes them so tired and so miserable to live through that they just give up. You would never have believed Charlie was sick much less beating death. He was surrounded by all these people giving him attention all day, like hell he was gonna give that up.

Charlie beat the odds, we brought him home, and spoiled him rotten every day for the next 17 years. And in return he ran our lives for us. He became so involved in every part of our daily routines that he'll never be gone. "He lives on in our memories" doesn't begin to describe it. He's at the center of our concept of what a home is.

As often happens with older cats, Charlie's kidneys began to fail. There's no cure for this, only management, and even that is iffy. You might get a few days, a few weeks, maybe as much as a year. He responded extremely well to treatment at first but after a few weeks he stopped eating. He kept trying to run the household for us, to make sure we stuck to the routines, and to participate in them as much as he could. All these years he'd thought he was taking care of us and he didn't know how to stop. On Sunday, November 3rd, we put Charlie to rest in the comfort of his home surrounded by the people he loved most.

I'll be blunt. It's been an expensive couple of weeks. While any help would be appreciated, please don't feel bad if you can't. We are well aware of the state of things generally and this week in specific. Thank you for reading all this.

We knew when it began in 2023 that this would be the longest hiatus of our career. And, with any luck, that'll be true forever.
