Too Much Information

Brian!

I think Scott and I figured out how to include members of the Women’s Airforce Service Pilots in the overall Roboverse. I have to blame Lydia for this one. She combined two unrelated elements of Robo mythos Scott and I were tinkering with and came up with the perfect way to bring in the WASPs. The historical accuracy flies out the window fairly early on, but that’s the whole point of Atomic Robo. We start with fascinating actual history and then pump it with enough ACTION SCIENCE to reach the moon.

They don’t go to the Moon, by the way.

Now it’s just a matter of figuring out where we’ll show what happened. That’s the one thing I don’t like about Atomic Robo. There are so many stories to tell it’s ridiculous. Telling them is the easy part, it’s finding the time to tell them that’s killing us. We’re already booked solid for ’08 (assuming that Volumes 2 and 3 are financially feasible) and those deal entirely with some of Robo’s early adventures in the ’20s and his role in Operation Husky. That still leaves everything from the ’50s to today. That’s a fairly dense period for Robo as the world transforms around him. So many stories, adventures, conspiracies, ooh and all kinds of other crap I can’t tell you about for, what, two years? At best. And, of course, that’s not including all the other shenanigans Robo gets himself into between his activation in 1923 and the conclusion of WW2. We’re simply spilling over with content here.

Maybe if we released a full comic book every week that’d help. I’m sure Scott won’t mind that kind of workload. After the brainwashing.

Marvelous

Brian!

Hey, IGN likes Robo.

I’ve been meaning to lock down Wegener so we can do a commentary for Atomic Robo #1, but he’s been a little busy drawing issues of Punisher War Journal.

Y’know, this time last year we were joking about how Robo would get us work with one of The Big Two. Scott made it in record time (i.e. a week before #1 came out). Now what I want to know is when the hell is Marvel going to figure out they need an on-going Taskmaster series so I can write it? Hm?

Don’t forget to drink your Ovaltine.

Brian!

Well, now that Atomic Robo #1 is out and proven itself to be pretty good, I don’t feel like such a huckster jackass by mentioning the new issues.

Atomic Robo #2: SEP073914. Use that order number at your local comic book store or buy it online. It may be too late to pre-order this item locally or online. Don’t worry though, you can re-order it after it comes out. And, who knows, based on the strength of the first issue, your local store may have stocked extras.

Atomic Robo #3: OCT073752 Use that order number at your local comic book store or buy it online. This is 100% pre-order-able until Oct 26th or 29th (depending on the mood of the store owner).

Remember, it’s always better to pre-order your comics, especially in the case of independent titles. This is not a thriving industry and your local comic shop owners simply cannot afford to stock ample copies of every indy darling book that comes out. You have to tell them what will sell. Pre-ordering is the best way to support independent comics and the industry as a whole. A title like Atomic Robo depends on your pre-orders. We’re still unknown talent working on an unknown character through an unknown publisher, so there will be shops out there that will take the safe bet and not bother to stock us. We need you guys out there fightin’ for us!
