The Fourth Issue And Misc.

Brian!

First of all, be sure to pick up Issue #4 today. It’s the only comedy issue we did for this mini-series. Take that how you will. It’s probably my favorite issue just because it’s so different from the rest of the mini. Plus, Carl Sagan and Stephen Hawking show up as guest stars. You can’t beat that. And even if you could, we’ve got Thomas Edison and the ghost of Rasputin in a back up story this time around.

In other news, it looks like Red 5 is officially involved in Free Comic Book Day. This li’l image will be the cover. When you see it in stores this May, it’ll have some fancy Red 5 doodads on it. It’ll be sixteen pages of robot-smashing action and explosions and Scott’s best work yet. Red 5 will include a variety of shorter comics from their other properties, but I don’t have the details on those. There better be some Neozoic in there because there is not nearly enough dinosaur fighting in media today. The story we’re doing for this one may be my favorite Robo adventure we’ve done so far, but I won’t know for sure until Scott stops doing his Joe Mad impression on Team Fortress 2 and finishes drawing the last third of it. HINT, HINT, SCOTT.

And here’s the inks for another cover entirely. But what is it for? Volume 2? I can only say you’ll find out later this year.

Lastly, this is for anyone who thinks Atomic Robo would be a great comic if only it’d have some cheesecake.

Enjoy it, because that’s all you’re ever going to get.

    I’m really enjoying this book! I love the production value, bonus stories, and pin-ups you guys have been filling each issue with. Can’t wait for the fight(s) versus the Soviet bots we keep seeing in the preview art and pin-ups.

    I’m hoping to write comics myself, and books like Atomic Robo keep making it look fun and worthwhile. Nice job!

    Any chance that if there is a Atomic Robo trade that the FCBD story will be in there for those of us who won’t get the chance to read it?

    @Ben:
    Thanks! Hope you enjoy the rest of the series. FOREVER.

    @Andrew:
    The plan is to include Robo’s FCBD story in the bonus materials for the second volume’s trade paperback.

    You can order back issues at any comic book store, but they’re pretty hard to get a hold of because the demand is so high.

    We plan to release a trade collecting all six issues in the second half of ’08.
