Okay, this is too cool not to post about it. Women Airforce Service Pilots are finally getting some official recognition. And it’s about damn time.

I just hope we’re able to do right by them in Atomic Robo and the Flying She-Devils of the Pacific. The series keeps getting pushed back because it’s easily our most ambitious work on the drawing table and, frankly, it scares us. The visuals for this thing will push Scott’s ability (not to mention his M.E. and P.E.)* like nothing else we’ve done. It’ll seriously be cover-to-cover waking nightmare pages for him. Meanwhile, I’ve got the unenviable task of writing a crazy fun adventure story of high-tech air piracy that juggles historically accurate attitudes with feminist thought while maintaining respect for the real people who inspired it all.

It’s a little daunting to live up to this:

*Mental Endurance and Physical Endurance respectively. Duh.

I, for one, anxiously await this volume. History is cool, and anyone who says otherwise is a big dumb pile of rocks.

@Scott: I’m also excited for you to draw this volume…and terrified by how much you’ll hate me for all the huge action scenes.

I will readily admit to being more excited for this volume than any other I’ve heard the title of… except for maybe the Ghost of Station X, as I do ever so love ghosts.

Then it may disappoint you to learn that the titular ghost is not strictly literal.

Oh. You know what, I’m not even disappointed, because no matter what, its got Robo. Thus, we’re all good.
