That’s enough outta you, Scott. I’m taking back control of this blog and there’s nothing you can do because you’re asleep right now.

My first act as blog dictator will be to abolish all Scott and Scott-related content.

With that out of the way, check out this interview with Scott!

Don’t freak out, the digital comic he talks about isn’t available yet. The amazing post-production wing of Team Robo is tackling it as we speak. But here’s a ton of Scott’s concept art for the Free Comic Book Day 2010 story he mentions.

Don’t laugh, this thing was the apex predator of the Cenozoic.

You may remember Ben as the enthusiastic fellow from Vol 1, Issue 3 “Pyramid Scheme” who thought that “Violent Science” would make a great band name.

You may remember Lang as the young lady from Vol 1, Issue 2 “Pest Control” who thought that Vikram’s “imaginary physics” was a load of hooey.

Speaking of FCBD, did you know that both our 2008 and 2009 stories are available here at Robo.com, over at NP.com (’08 and ’09), and now on the iPhone for free through ComiXology’s app? They’ve also got all of Volume 2: Atomic Robo and the Dogs of War at $0.99 per issue. We expect these comics to make it to iVerse soon as well.

Okay, enough of that crap. What have I been up to?

Well, I was on vacation visiting my parents. They’re trapped in Alabama and pretty much everything you need to know about Alabama is that you can get cans of baked beans the size of your head. I spent more of the week working than I perhaps should have even though I made a serious effort to work as little as I could. Ah well, got to visit the family, avoid the rubes, and finally finish Michio Kaku’s Physics of the Impossible, which was also technically work since it was hundreds of pages of Robo story fuel.

But my hopeless work addiction bears delicious fruit for you folks! I finished the script to Robo 4.2. It’s our very first Giant Size Extravaganza Issue coming in at a whopping 26 pages that’s absolutely packed with our biggest, craziest action yet. And if that’s not enough to melt your brain, the third issue finishes the story we started way back in FCBD 2009. If you’re still conscious (somehow), the last issue will introduce Robo’s oldest, newest, and worstest arch-enemy. Sheesh, I’m experiencing Awesome Overload just from talking about this series. Basically, reviews and fans keep telling us that Volume 3 is the best Robo series to date; and it looks like Volume 4 is going to blow it away. Can’t wait for you guys to see it.

But first I gotta head back to the script mines for some more of that precious FCBD 2010 ore.

I read that as “oldest, newest and worstest arch-enemy, Jesus.” That's bold storytelling.

Also, Violent Science is the name of my band on Guitar Hero. :)

  • Scott!

I was just in the middle of writing this same exact blog entry when I had the idea to check the site first for any new activity. Weird.

    Glad I did though!

    Starting FCBD 2010 Pg1 . . .now! SHRROOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!

PS: I just wanted to add that Jeff and Ronda are doing the colors and lettering for the Digital Short for free. Actually we all are doing it for free -why would Red5 pay us for something they aren't going to publish? But Jeff and Ronda also do a lot of pro-bona work on the B-Stories in the regular book as well.

Those two are super-dedicated and very generous. We're lucky to have them.

Also . . did I spell “pro-bona” correctly? I've said it a million times but never actually written it down before. =P

i believe it's “pro-bono”, or maybe that's just the people that adhere to the teachings of U-2. or sonny and cher. or both!

also read it as 'arch-enemy jesus'…

scott, you're takin' shrooms before starting FCBD 2010? cah-razy…

    Edited to remove Jesus confusion.

  • eld

I still read it as Jesus. Anyways, looking forward to the awesome.

i thought it was funny… and will continue to read it that way.

Welp, I'm excited. I do have a question about Atomic Robo 3.4 though… It seems weird to me that Robo has a “thing” about bugs. Is there an earlier, emotionally and mentally scarring incident that Robo has with insect-kind that we don't know about yet? Or is it “just because”? At any rate he appears to be over it by the time of 1.2, with the giant ants. So, what's Robo's beef with bugs?

  • http://www.nuklearpower.com Brian!

He pretty much spells it out for you in 3.4. It's not bugs specifically, it's the fact that bugs are tiny and can get inside his body and make him feel gross. The ants from 1.2 are obviously way too large to be a worry.

  • Josh_B

Robo sort of explained it, how they got under his casing and gummed up his… er… works. Giant ants can't get in, so its all good.

  • Josh_B

Ah crap, beat me to it.

  • Thomas S.

Ah, I see…I guess I missed that somehow, but now that you mention it I remember it. Weird. Thanks!

  • yayap91

Haha, robo is heavy weapons guy!

    Good eye!

  • Pattom

Well, that certainly frees one of the Medics to go pair up with Jenkins-as-Demoman…

    Hey Brian,

More Doctor Dinosaur? Very nice indeed. I've been liking the new volume; I enjoyed this particular slant on H.P Lovecraft quite a lot; I think somehow it's way more amusing to think of that guy writing all of those stories, instead of the quiet and subdued fellow I'd always pictured. Like every paragraph he got down would have to be preceded by a fifteen-minute, flailing arm rant about the room.

Looking forward to the next one.
