note-to-self-volume-titles-again

Here’s what we’re currently brewing up for you guys.

Atomic Robo and Other Strangeness was changed to Atomic Robo and the Revenge of the Vampire Dimension due to a miscommunication that was 100% my fault. Oops! This is Vol 4, which comes out in February! It’s four very loosely connected one-shots. It’s got vampires, Jenkins, Science Team Super Five (renamed to avoid confusion with Super Go), the rest of the Dr. Dinosaur story, and a super secret nemesis (dun dun dun)!

What does the future hold?

Atomic Robo and the Ghost of Station X – This is Volume 5. I’ve been plotting it out for the last couple days. It takes place in 2010; it’s our first traditional completely linear storyline; it may be our first six-issue series since Vol 1. I don’t want to give anything away, but it’s basically Robo vs. The World. Gasp!

Atomic Robo and The Flying She-Devils of the Pacific – Currently planned to be Volume 6. Post-WWII air-piracy with a load of weird Jet Age tech.

Atomic Robo in Diamonds Are For Never – This is a ’70s science heist adventure. Think Jackie Brown crossed with Wargames. Working title.

Atomic Robo and the Soldiers of Fortune – Big ’80s action. Our version of a mega event crossover. Working title.

Atomic Robo Under an Iron Sky has been changed to Atomic Robo and the Spear of Destiny – The return of an old foe with a new weapon and an old friend who is a new friend and also a foe (whew). Think mid-’60s, Cold War big science weapon espionage. Somewhat like if the Cuban Missile Crisis happened in a world with lightning guns.

Atomic Robo and the Deadly Art of ScienceNo story idea to go with this one, but Scott’s in love with it so we’ve got to come up with something to hang it on! Depression era tale of Robo’s very first big adventure!

Atomic Robo and the Savage Sword of Dr. Dinosaur or Atomic Robo and the Land That Time Remembered or Atomic Robo and the Lost City of Dinopolis or something else – A whole series dedicated to one or more of Dr. Dinosaur’s schemes to destroy all humanity and Atomic Robo’s efforts to stop him. Working title.

This takes us through Volume 11. Depending on our output, that’s another four to five years of Atomic Robo comics.

Are you sure it's not “Vampire Dimension” to cash in on the Twilight craze? :)

  • John the second

Personally I prefer 'Atomic Robo Under an Iron Sky' over 'Atomic Robo and the Spear of Destiny'.

Also what happened to 'Atomic Robo and the samurai monkeys of Kathmandu”?

  • http://www.nuklearpower.com Brian!

John: Iron Sky was taken. The Kathmandu story would be a bonus story of some kind, not a full mini-series.

Scott: I would not put it past those mercenaries at Red 5! ;)

“…Think Jackie Brown crossed with Wargames…”

Pam Grier plays Dabney Coleman's part and proceeds to beat up Matthew Broderick?

Robo as Broderick. It all comes together.

Atomic Robo and the Savage Sword of Dr. Dinosaur is, quite frankly, the most appealing title for anything ever.

For “Deadly Art of Science” you could do some of that whole Da Vinci Code/National Treasure kinda thing that's been so popular and do a story about a doomsday weapon designed by Da Vinci himself that Helsingard is after. But that's just the first thing that came to mind when I read the title, I'm sure whatever you come up with will be 10 times better.

Will we see Scott draw Deniro as Louis Gara?

    The titles alone are amazing.

  • Ryan

I'm glad you decided to Stick with “Atomic Robo in Diamonds Are For Never.”

While it breaks from the “Atomic Robo and the…” titles you've been using, it's an amazing title and deserves to be your first break from the naming convention.

Is Robo gonna get to wear a tux? Or is that too predictable?

  • http://www.nuklearpower.com Brian!

It's easily one of my favorites.

  • Scott!

Mike: I was just thinking that Deadly Art of Science would have to involve Helsingard! =D We haven't used that jerk in quite a while.
