Vol 8.2 and RSA 9 coming at you. We think.

Vol 8.2 and RSA 9 coming at you. We think.

Atomic Robo and the Savage Sword of Dr. Dinosaur #2 and Real Science Adventures #9 popped up on some comic shops’ shipping lists for next Wednesday, August 7th.

They are notably absent from other comic shops’ shipping lists though.

Will they come out? It’s a mystery! Consider yourselves on high alert. And now Diamond is showing the issues will be available August 7th!

Meanwhile the Official Tesladyne Action Scientist’s Field Guide Kickstarter marches dutifully into the final week of its campaign. Take a gander at those tiers and all the free bonus stuff that’s been unlocked via stretch goals!

Can’t wait! You can never have enough Robo. As for the kickstarter, the next two months are going to go by soooooo slow. Finally unpacking the shirts, all the other awesome Robo swag as well as the hardcover field guide with the sketch and auto’s is going to be one of the highlights of my entire year!

  • Kaijumaster

Excellent news (one hopes) And I would agree that the wait for the Kickstarter swag would be murder, but it’ll in all likelyhood be a blink of the eye next to the wait for the Last Stop merch. (which should not be read as a complaint)

Unrelated to the topic at hand.
But a Robo related question arose.
Re-reading Vol. 5, what became of Robos relationship with Helen McAllister?
The recent Nuts and Bolts maintained Robos attraction to Human women, did they ever see each other after her return to Chicago? or is that an RSA Vol. 3 sort of question?

  • Scott!

All we can say is “Volume 11″. ;P

  • http://www.nuklearpower.com Brian!

Something about their relationship post-Vol 5 might crop up in RSAv3. My notes on those issues focus pretty heavily on Jack, so it doesn’t seem too likely. But not impossible.

Vol 11, as Scott notes below, will re-visit Helen and Robo some years after they met in Vol 5.

43 years later, I look forward to it with great anticipation.

FACT: The new colorist is awesome!

FACT: The new kind of paper is awesome!

  • Scott!

I like the new paper too. Its just a bit more “artsie”. #whateverthehellthatmeans.

  • dklecan

    the new colorist sucks!!!

  • dklecan

Is everyone blind. The new colorist sucks. Pages of red on red on red on this new arc, Savage Sword #2. Don’t even get me started on the previous arc, about the female pilots of the Pacific.

In this arc, Savage Sword, can’t differentiate the foreground from the background, the figures from the background. I can barely see what Dr. Dinosaur is doing. Colorist, please, google a few images of Carlsbad Caverns and see how it’s lit. Shadows are non existent or placed in weird places.

How come the crystals do not light Dr. D. head or the mud men? Take a look at the purple panel on the right on this web page. It is just purple blobs outlined in purple. Can you really tell that that is a dinosaur if you didn’t know the Atomic Robo story? Show it to someone who doesn’t know Atomic Robo and see if they understand the panel on this web page. There are some panels that are so dark in my issue that I, at first, thought the printing had messed up.

I’ve read and seen examples about how artist can break or make a story, but here the colorist has really messed up the story. I’m squinting at every panel. Such a shame. A.R. was always a very clear easy-to follow story as drawn by the artist.

FACT: I miss Rhonda, mainly due to the hometown connection we shared, but I have been happy with Nick.

    Fact: Atomic Robo Rocks!

  • Scott!

I can appreciate that. I regret that we had our falling out, but I’ve also been very happy with the stuff Nick has been doing.
