Just a quick note on the fate of the Volume 8 trade paperback to start. There’s been a schedule snafu with its release date. Basically this is the last ripple/echo/aggravation from way back when the third issue of that series was delayed. Any reports you see about it being unavailable or out of print or cancelled are wrong. If you already ordered it, say, through Amazon, you may have been told your order was cancelled. It’s not. It’s comin’ at ya and we’ll let you know when as soon as Diamond tells us!
Now for the good news!
We’ve had tons of time to work on Volume 9 due to the delays on the releases of the back half of Volume 8. Scott will be done with at least the first three issues of Volume 9 by the time the first one comes out. Barring any major disasters that means all of Volume 9 will be on time.
By the way. That first issue? It comes out May 21st. Maybe ask your local shop to hold a copy for ya. They have a pullbox for that sort of thing. It’s neat. BTW the Diamond Code for that issue is MAR141342 if you want to make their job a little easier.
Or if you don’t have a shop that’s so local, then give Midtown Comics online store a shot. I’m gonna link to the issue in a second, but first I want to warn you that everything about Volume 9 is an enormous spoiler for Volume 8. Here’s the link: you’ve been warned.
“But Brian,” you might say. “Doesn’t it screw up the whole thing where you guys says you can read Robo in any order if you make these two so closely linked?”
Naw. If you read Volume 9 before Volume 8, you’ll get the same payoff but in a different direction.
The only problem I see is that some people run the risk of getting spoiled if they like to keep an eye on Robo and get the books as they come out but not necessarily when they come out. This is a temporary problem.
Scott and I differ about how much effort we should make to protect the delicate sensibilities of these rare and beautiful creatures. The official policy ’round these parts is: you’ve got until the Volume 8 TPB or the first issue of Volume 9 comes out, whichever is first.
